The Magolan laboratory engages in hit-to-lead synthetic medicinal chemistry. They synthesize small focused libraries of compounds based on hits identified via high-throughput antimicrobial screening campaigns. In collaboration with biologists, the Magolan lab employs iterative hypothesis-driven approaches to optimize efficacy and desirable pharmacokinetic properties of lead compounds in order to enable their advancement to further stages of the drug development process.
